About Us

Hope for Community Development supports marginalized youth and families in Kitchener-Waterloo region. We promote transformative change through education, programming, and community engagement, addressing poverty among Black and newcomer families with tailored services. We envision a future where everyone can succeed and contribute to their community.

Our Departments

Hope for Community Development is comprised of several integral departments that collaborate to achieve our mission. 

After School Homework

Education and Outreach 

To advance education by providing academic tutorials, workshops and mentorship to newcomer youth and families.

Next Gen Photography

Career Skills and Entrepreneurship

To develop and provide a mentoring and business leadership program for marginalized youths,
professionals (entry-level and mid-career) and entrepreneurs to develop the necessary skills to enter or
continue on a career path and to provide a support network, community and positive role models for
marginalized youth entering or currently in the workforce.

Youth Soccer

Sports and Recreation

To develop and provide a mentoring and leadership program to build self-esteem and leadership skills for newcomer and marginalized children and youth through sports.

Persons with Disabilities

International 

 The International Department empowers youth and families with disabilities by providing food supplies, developing leadership skills, creating self-employment through entrepreneurship and traditional employment opportunities, and offering comprehensive training for long-term career success. Our goal is to promote inclusion, resilience, and sustainable development globally.

Community Engagement

Community Engagement and Volunteer

This department focuses on building robust connections with the local community by aligning the organization's mission with community needs. They organize events that foster partnerships with local leaders and develop initiatives that promote community involvement. In addition, this department manages volunteer programs, encouraging active participation from community members to support the organization's goals and strengthen communal bonds.

Liberia Living and Learning Center for Persons with Disabilities (LLLCPWD)

Liberia Living and Learning Center for Persons with Disabilities is a collaborative project led by Canadian not-for-profit Hope for Community Development in partnership with several disability organizations. ​The Center will be built in numerous stages in the Duazon area and will include Liberia's first 21st Century international standard center, a school, clinic, administrative building, worship centre, amusement park, and accommodation units.
